"THC Herpes Treatment"

Ten to fifteen years ago (about 1990), I developed a treatment for herpes outbreaks (both cold sores and other). At that time I tried to share my discovery with different research groups, but was meet with doubt, and ignored. It is a sensitive subject so I let the discovery go at that time figuring the application method was so obvious that the researchers would discover it on their own.

Recently I had reason to revive my treatment method, and found it still works. I also learned that research had not moved forward in this area and probably never will (most research is motivated by profits and this treatment method canít be patented). Therefore I want to move forward with this treatment discovery myself. I feel it is my responsibility to do so. My problem is my evidence of its effectiveness is limited to only a few trial people (myself being one). I've had cold sores ever since I was a kid so I know the effectiveness of this treatment for me, based on my prior history. What I want to do now is to make this information available to as many people as possible and to also begin an informal study of its effectiveness. I am willing to handle the communications and data collection but I still need to increase my exposure so please feel free to share this information with others and encourage them to contact me regarding any questions or feedback.

It's a basic treatment method that I developed after relating a couple of unrelated pieces of information I found in my earlier activist days (see links below). Basically the treatment is just a tincture of rubbing alcohol and marijuana. The THC kills the herpes virus on contact and cuts recovery time in half (at least). Also, repeated use reduces, and possibly eliminates, future outbreaks (I have a theory about that but need more testing).

For your own information I'm not regarded as a fanatic. I'm actually a well-respected, 44 year old Accountant/CPA, currently working in government, and recently completed a BS degree in computer information systems. I believe enough in my treatment method that I am willing to take the risks required to share it.

Sincerely,
Darrell Heiner

Derma Dragon - Tincture of Marijuana
*For External Use Only*

The Recipe:

1 Ounce of 70% Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
(Grain alcohol, such as 190 proof Everclear, may work as well but Iíve always used rubbing alcohol. Inexpensive and easy to come by.)
Ĺ Gram Marijuana
(The better the quality, the stronger the tincture.)
1 Glass or plastic container with a tight fitting lid (2-ounce size works well.)
(Most people recommend a dark container. Iíve always used clear ones.)

Pour the alcohol into the container, add the marijuana (Donít grind it up. Loses too much THC.), and put on the lid. Let the mixture sit for at least 2 weeks, but preferably 4, giving an occasional shake to stir things up.

Application:

At the first signs of a herpes outbreak (cold sore or other) begin applying the marijuana tincture. I usually give the container a little shake and then apply the alcohol to the site of the outbreak using a Q-tip. Applying the alcohol with a Q-tip seems to work best. I usually apply it twice at each application 3 or 4 times a day. The THC in the alcohol kills the herpes virus on contact reducing the chance of reinfection from that outbreak. I want to say that this treatment method will cure the virus but I believe that point is complicated by many different variables including how long the person has had the virus and the number of points of infection. But it is the best, and cheapest treatment method I have found in my 45 years.

"These results indicate that delta 9-THC inhibits the synthesis, maturation, and cellular transport of HSV2-specified glycoproteins."

Um, so, it makes the virus too lazy to do its work, immature, and won't do anything but sit around?

Since alcohol alone will kill the virus, I think you'd need to either use a different carrier, or show some effect above and beyond that obtained with a plain alcohol control group.

After reading the abstracts, it seems like there might even be some use for it in preventing transmission. (Pass the hemp-oil lube, please.)

Your idea sounds interesting. I wish you good luck with it.

I like the hemp-oil lube idea actually. My have helped some women I know of who ran into some men who didn't care. I used straight rubbing alcohol as a child growing up with cold sores, as did most people I've talked to. It doesn't stop the blister formation. The THC/rubbing alcohol mixture does. One person suggested that the rubbing alcohol may be aiding the THC by helping with the cell membrane problem (don't really understand it). I don't know why it works, but for me it does and I've always believed "If it works, don't fix it". Maybe my observations aren't correct, or my theory flawed but I believe in it enough to feel that I have a responsibility to share the information. (If it was legal I would have looked into marketing the product myself).

Just sharing information and my experiences.

Isn't marijuana illegal substance? Why do you need it?
I thought 70% Isopropyl alcohol should not be applied on the mouth/lips?

My experience as a child growing up and dealing with cold sores, is this:
I used rubbing alcohol most of my life for the treatment of cold sores (just don't ingest it). It should kill the virus on contact but has no lasting effect - the blister always returned until it's course was run. The THC application appears to stop the blister formation from the point of application indicating it is continueing to kill the virus as it reaches the suface (the blister is your body's reaction to the virus). Alcohol is the easiest "carrier" to use. In theory an oil base product could work. And yes THC is illegal but I chose to treat my medical conditions with methods I find to be effective, I believe it is an individuals right.

Just sharing information and my experiences.

Grain alcohol or vodka would be a better choice than rubbing alcohol and should work just as well.

6. "Hemp Oil ?"
In response to message #5

HMMMM this sounds interesting- of course THC and Hemp has ben touted as a cure for a LOT of things- and some of it has to be politically charged. (sometimes by the same left-wingers that want to make cigarettes illegal?)

I don't do drugs but have friends who are pot-heads. Id be willing to try it but knowing my luck I'd get caught and try telling a cop in the conservative area I live that it's only for herpes.......lol Maybe I'll save for a trip to Amsterdam...:O
Not to mention I would think half a gram might cost a fortune but I'm not familiar with that stuff.

***NOW WHAT about hemp oil?????????????- I think that may be available in health food stores but not sure- could that have some affect then. I'll try anything... Like what if I got hemp oil and used it as a lube for a j/o session since I have it on the penis???????

Yes, you can get hemp oil at the health food store, but you can bet that there's no THC in it. It's supposed to be high in omega-3 fatty acids. What you're looking for would be hash oil. (ask your friends)

You might, on the other hand, or whichever one you want, use coconut oil for that purpose. Presumably, if you used it regularly, some of it would get broken down to monolaurin and lauric acid, both of which are effective herpecides. (I think I just made up a new word).

I tried everything- I found coconut oil in the indian or indo-american food section of the grocery store, it comes in a jar and is really hard until it's warmed and smells kinda sour.

I only used it like once or twice though- and then I might as well use plain soap since it has SLS, the "active" ingredient in coconut oil...?

This is very interesting and something I'm willing to try at home here. All ingredients seem to be easily available to come by.

I suffer for OBs far too frequently even though I'm on supressive therapy (Valtrex).

Will let you all know how I go!

Just one question: How bad will it sting? The sound of rubbing alcohol on a sore sounds like it could be more painful than it already is! Hey, but if it works its worth a try..

Stings abit. Only remember one time that really had me dancing, but I think that was partially my own mistake. Done at the earliest stages there is very little stinging and the alcohol evaporates quickly. Definitly seems to be reducing occurences from the feedback I am getting. Good luck and let me know how things go.

my first question is how long is the mixture good for after it sits for two weeks. I dont get outbreaks often and dont want to have to make a new mixture all the time just in case I have an outbreak. I am willing to try about anything so let me know. Also, this might sound like a silly question, but if you absorbe the thc, will it show up on a drug test?
