"Imulux - Is this old/ good news?"

LAST EDITED ON Jan-16-07 AT 09:16 AM (CST) by Rajah (admin)

Fort Smith, AR (PRWEB) January 12, 2007 -- Imulux president, Dr. Jon Stoneburner wishes to announce an international clinical trial for herpes 1, 2, and 3. The purpose of the trial is to obtain additional reports on the efficacy of the Imulux Herpes Treatment for the treatment of herpes and genital warts. The expected goal of the clinical trial is to show that a remission rate of 99%+ is possible if treated in a home environment with up to three applications of the med packs. This was the known rate of remission for application of the Imulux Herpes Treatment with trained health care professional investigators in previous published clinical trials.

Published clinical trial results conducted in 2001 have shown the Imulux protocol for the treatment of herpes and genital warts obtained the following results:

• Immediate relief of symptoms (burn, itch, pain, and discomfort) in over 98% of treated volunteers.
• Expedited healing (as observed by the principal investigator) in over 98% of the treated volunteers.
• 93% rate of permanent remission at 4 years after volunteers received only one treatment
• 98%+ rate of permanent remission at 4 years after volunteers received 2 treatments.
• 99%+ rate of permanent remission at 4 years after volunteers received 3 or more treatments.

Interested participants internationally obtain more details and register for the trial for participation in this trial. All volunteers will receive an Imulux light and three "med paks" for treatment of their herpes or genital warts outbreaks. Additional study materials will include a detailed protocol, instructions for application, an informed consent, and an e-mail link for posting individual results will be provided at no charge to the volunteers or their personal physician.

For further information on getting involved in the International Clinical Trial please contact Dr. Jon Stoneburner from Imulux. In the US he can be reached via phone at 1-800-996-5161 or if out of the US you can call 479-461-2024 or email e-mail protected from spam bots for further information.

I've been made aware of that study recently, but it's not been discussed here yet. I'm glad you mentioned it so that it can be discussed.

There's been a lot of discussion about Imulux here. Most of it is in the Alternative forum. BTW, I edited the subject line in your post so that it would index better for people who might be googling for "Imulux".

As far as this study goes, I see some problems. One is that this is not a double-blind study and there is no control group so far as I see, so there's way to compare results. One thing that most of these online herpes treatments rely on is that herpes, especially new cases, tends to get a lot better with the passage of time so it makes it look like the treatment is accomplishing something when it's not.

One place to look for some independent information about Imulux as a company and its credibility is at http://imulux.googlepages.com

As far as discussion threads here, here is a list of links, or just go to the Alternative forum and look at the list:

There are a lot of folks who think this is a scam. It's a fairly well orchestrated one, but a scam. Read about it and make up your own mind.

I had to do some googling on that, too, when I first saw the article. I don't know why they just didn't say zoster or varicella or even chickenpox.. I guess they think it sounds more impressive. Whatever!!

My fault - just saw its a press release form the company which makes it basically worthless propoganda.

Oh well.

I guess the most to realistically hope for is an improved version of valtrex or something like that.

ugh - having something there is no cure for sure does suck.

I have read some medical journals online that talk about the photodynamic treatments with the different dyes. They get complicated but saw one about one of the red dyes that actually altered the HSV virus under UVA light. This is the article from the National Library of Medicine that made me risk buying the product. I am still researching this disease and have always believed in alternative treatments. I am not a doctor but alternating the DNA and blocking replication got my interest. This seems to be fact and if it is then some of these theories make sense.

DRK-Blutspendedienst Niedersachsen, Springe, Germany.

Herpes simplex virus type 1 was inactivated by illumination with red light in the presence of low concentrations (1 microM) of methylene blue (MB). In ultrastructural examinations after photodynamic treatment, no significant damage of the viral envelope was observed. The inactivated viruses were able to bind to host cells and to penetrate them. Viral DNA was released within the cells, but DNA replication was completely inhibited by photodynamic treatment. In Southern blots, a degradation of the viral DNA was detected with increasing illumination time. Taken together, these data show that MB/light treatment of herpes viruses gives rise to DNA damage and blocks DNA replication.

and the "sun doesn't shine there". The ganglia where gential herpes goes dormant is the sacral ganglia which is near the base of the spine. No light is going to penetrate there.

Like many "alternative" herpes treatments, the Imulux folks throw around a lot of pseudoscientific terms, including energy medicine. It's hogwash, in my opinion, if you'll pardon my frankness.

Take a look at http://imulux.googlepages.com for some interesting reading about Imulux and some of the people behind it and their various shenanigans.
