    Stanford University has Ann Arvin, MD who is probably the most noted HSV
    scholar in the area. She has written a number of articles about HSV in the

Washington   

The Remington Clinic at The University of Washington on Broadway in Seattle. Best to call and make an appointment. They're friendly and usually no one is in the waiting room. Cost for the WesternBlot (WB) about $105, which includes the blood draw. It's very one-on-one, the people there know their molecules, proteins and immunoglobulins.

Harborview Medical Center (in Seattle, just off of Broadway on First Hill), there's an STD clinic in the West Wing. You can have the HerpeSelect test done for both HSV1 and HSV2 for only $25 dollar which includes drawing the blood. If your result is equivocal, they'll perform the WesternBlot on your blood sample for no extra charge. That is a GREAT deal!! Of course you can just request the WB, cost is about $105. You can walk in or make an appointment. Expect about 10-15 people in the waiting room, and a 10-30 minute wait. Results are given over the phone a week later; you'll call in, provide some information to make sure it's really you. Don't assume you're talking with a doctor, you're typically talking to a volunteer or student of the University of Washington medical program, so don't expect too much if any technical information.

 

I would recommend going to Harborview and getting the HerpeSelect test. For most people, this is all that's needed, and the $25 dollar cost can't be beat, and they do a WB if necessary at no extra cost.

 

Both Harborview Medical Center and the Remington Clinic are associated with the the University of Washington in Seattle.

                      The John Hunter Clinic in London, a GUM centre.

This clinic is really nice so I'd definitely recommend it, I've seen 3 doctors here and they've all been concerned and trying to find a solution, booking me in for follow up appointments to see how its going (unusual here). it's not actually in London its about a 50min train ride out but it might be useful for anyone in the East Anglia region and also for people in London if they don't mind traveling. I haven't found a good clinic in London - my local one is totally packed and don't do appointments so you have to wait 3-4 hours to be seen but I believe the Chelsea and Westminster hospital is good in London. anyway the one I go to is in Cambridge and the address is:
